Home » MILA accreditation model

To address the problem of ‘quality dilution’ in a crowded market, MILA is developing a robust accreditation scheme designed to be the UK’s gold standard for media literacy. This model will establish a clear pathway for quality assurance while creating a sustainable income stream for the alliance.

Accreditation Tiers

We propose to offer three distinct levels of recognition to ensure accessibility for all creators:

  •     MILA Quality Mark: For individual resources such as lesson plans, videos, or toolkits.
  •     MILA Approved Training: For professional development (CPD) courses aimed at educators.
  •     MILA Framework Partner: For large-scale, long-term programmes that map directly to our comprehensive standards.

The assessment process

We aim to set out a five-stage process includes a free initial eligibility check to filter submissions, followed by formal application, specialist peer review by practitioners or academics, a ‘right to reply’ for iterations, and a final award granted for a fixed period.

We are looking to make available an initial version of this model by early 2027 and will provide updates on progress.
