Overview

During the first half of 2025, MILA worked with Parent Zone to provide evaluation expertise and guidance for a collaborative media literacy intervention developed by YouTube and the Poynter Institute in partnership with Parent Zone. This initiative targeted students aged 13-17 in English schools, focusing on building resilience against misinformation through structured media literacy education.

The intervention was delivered through a comprehensive curriculum that included lesson plans, teacher resources and example banks. Delivery of the curriculum was supported with training for teachers and Parent Zone facilitated in-person workshops for pupils.

MILA support

MILA supported Parent Zone with guidance on effective data capture methodologies and advised on approaches to capture longer term behaviour change.  This was mapped to the Media and Information Literacy Framework and Ofcom’s Media Literacy Outcomes, using theory of change, with a focus on the progression from access and skills to capabilities and long-term societal benefits.
