Media and information literacy: a fresh start with a new school curriculum?

MILA worked with a wide range of partners to issue a further joint statement, signed by over 35 experts and organisations. This warns that curriculum reforms will falter without media literacy funding for schools. The statement, issued in November 2025 in response to the final report from the Curriculum and Assessment Review, is here.

Ministerial statement on media literacy

In response to the interim report from the Curriculum and Assessment Review (see also below), MILA coordinated a joint statement from a coalition of information and education organisations. This calls for media and information literacy to become a mandatory part of England’s school curriculum. The statement, issued in June 2025, is here.

MILA responds to parliamentary inquiry into media literacy
